If you hear your toilet turn on by itself, don’t worry, you don’t have ghosts, it is either your cat that flushed the toilet or most likely the flapper in the toilet has failed and is wasting water down the drain.
When this happens the toilet turns on by itself for a short time, then turns back off again. It is a good idea to call the plumber quickly on this one because it is wasting water every second you wait. By putting it off for days, weeks, or even months, you can waste hundreds or thousands of gallons of water, which costs money, and then you will still have to repair it in the end.
So be proactive and repair the toilet at the first sign of trouble and don’t waste money and water procrastinating.
